perpetua: On October 16th 2010, I am going to be taking part in a Light the Night walk in Queens to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This is a significant date for me personally, as it will be the first anniversary of my father’s death from complications of lymphoma. I will be walking in his memory, but raising money to help all the individuals and families still struggling...

All this is to say:
It’s a buyer’s market, and if I lived in NYC I would scoop up those Craigslist tickets and see Pavement every night this week.  If it wasn’t for getting home around 2:00 / 2:30 and having to be up for work at 6:00, I’d probably go more than just Friday night as well.

Hey Good Luck Trying To Sell Your Pavement Tickets... →
perpetua: I have a very hard time feeling bad for ticket scalpers. On Saturday in Boston, I was one of four people in a row with sixteen chairs.  I have never been turned down as many times for anything as I was for my two extra Pavement tickets - I offered them to several people for nothing and was still turned down.  So instead, Jenny and I stretched out.

As Bertis noted in his postcard dated September 10th, the band has been in Nashville putting the finishing touches on their next record for the past couple of weeks. Today, we can confirm that the guys have wrapped up things in Nashville. All signs are pointing toward a spring 2011 release, so please stay tuned.  Awesome.

perpetua replied to your link: Rivers Cuomo Now Says He Never Hated Pinkerton — Vulture You know, sometimes you change your mind about things, or have complex feelings about your work that shifts over time. Like a human being. Fun fact: Cuomo is human! Like us! True, and I’m being unfair by making it about money.  And looking back at the quote from the piece, what Matthew is...

Rivers Cuomo Now Says He Never Hated Pinkerton --... →
Honest question (and then I’m done posting for a little while) - which scenario is more lucrative for Cuomo: New Weezer album with typical promo and tour cycle. Pinkerton deluxe edition, no new radio airplay (or at least no new songs to push to radio), Pinkerton tour promising a sequenced performance of that album and anything else the band wants to play (like the Pixies’...

So it sounds like Spoon played a mini-set after (during?) the filming for a video for “Nobody Gets Me but You.”  Based on the streaming version of “Car Radio,” this sounds like a pretty solid recording.  Have at it! (By the way, this happened today.  The novelty of such a quick turnaround will never get old for me.)

The Death of Paste, a Day Late
I had a year subscription to Paste a few years back; I paid $20 during their “name your own price” promotion (which, as it turns out, was five cents more than they normally asked) and it was fine.  By “fine,” I mean that I would flip through it the day I received it in the mail, read a couple things in it (and occasionally, maybe once every other issue, find something I...
